Shake Shack, the Corn Dog, and the No. 3

Memorial Day Weekend, Independence Day, and Labor day…three times a year…that’s all.

Those are the only times during the calendar year in which the old fashioned hot dog stand turned popular and fast growing food chain known as Shake Shack serves one of its most talked about menu items: the Shack Corn Dog. More specifically, it is a Vienna hot dog dipped in a special Shake Shack corn batter and served with Rick’s Picks sweet corn relish.

This corn dog has received a ton of national praise, and apparently for good reason. Recently, it was even featured on Food Network’s “Best Thing I Ever Ate” show, during an episode specific to delicacies on a stick.

Now, we don’t know about you, but maybe what adds to the aura of amazing when it comes to this corn dog is that it is only on the menu three times a year. Maybe Shake Shack feels as though its corn dog is a gift from the gods, so they present it to the public three times a year — three being an operative theme in religion.

Maybe Shake Shack feels that Babe Ruth, who most believe to be the greatest baseball player in history, deserves to be honored three times a year — he wore the No. 3 — so they pay homage to him with baseball’s original ballpark treat: the corn dog.

No matter what you believe the reason to be, one thing is certain: we will be eating one of those Corn Dogs as we watch the fireworks on July 3rd, 4th, and 5th.

Will you?
