Cosi®, the standby neighborhood spot, has collaborated with Phillips Seafood on its new menu item, a Crab Cake Melt. For around $8 you can savor the taste of the Phillips’ family recipe crab cake on signature Cosi® flatbread with a creamy dijon/horseradish sauce, lettuce and tomato draped with melted provolone cheese. Get it while it’s hot, literally…it will only be around for the summer months!
Then you should absolutely head to Phillips Seafood Harborplace Restaurant and help celebrate their 30th Anniversary in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor! Events kick off at noon on Friday, July 2nd in the Harborplace Ampitheater with a Crab Cake Eating Contest (if you’d like to enter this ravishing rivalry tell us why you’d make a great competitor on Phillps Seafood Facebook page) and continue through the weekend. Saturday, July 3 listen to Phillips’ Crabologist, Donald Manning, as he teaches Crabology 101 and cooks up a few crabby recipes to sample to the crowd. YUM.
Yesterday we hung out at FOX Philly studio with our friend, Chef Sean Weinberg of Restaurant Alba in Malvern, PA. Weinberg was featured on the “Monday’s Menu” segment preparing a decadent veggie panini. Decadent vegetables? Yes, particularly after being roasted and sauteed then marinated in olive oil and herbs with garlic and pressed between thick slices of crusty bread with creamy burrata cheese.
Hilarity ensued as host Mike Jerrick knifed the flaming red peppers and nibbled the “magic” (or so he thought) Hen of the Woods mushroom.
We spent this weekend in the Poconos at Skytop with a few of our favorite chefs: David Katz of Meme, Michael Solomonov of Zahav and Peter Woolsey of Bistrot La Minette (left to right). Besides the 5-course dinner menu with touches from each chef, we sat in on cooking demos held by Solomonov and Woolsey, bowled on the lawn, had an impromptu BBQ on Skytop Lake and went a few rounds in paintball.
