Philadelphia Welcomes Back It’s Largest Bacon Festival!

TurkeyBaconfestlow2Yes, you heard right, Philadelphia is hosting the second annual festival dedicated to everyone’s favorite greasy breakfast meat — bacon!

This Friday, August 1st, the festival will kick off at 5pm right in the middle of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, otherwise known as The Oval.  Free samples of Maple Bacon, Turkey Bacon, Chicken Bacon and Beef Bacon will be given out courtesy of Godshall’s Quality Meats.  After munching on the free samples you can grab dinner from one of Philadelphia’s favorite food trucks that will be parked at The Oval.  Make the tough decision between Sum Pig, Oink and Moo, Phoebe’s BBQ, Braz BQ, Chewys, and Undrgrnd Donuts.

At 6pm there will be a presentation by Chef Jack McDavid where he will be cooking up some of his favorite and very unique bacon dishes.  There will be live music during the festival courtesy of DJ Apt One & lil’Dave.  If that wasn’t enough excitement, The Franklin Institute will be “launching” a bacon space capsule modeled after Apollo 13.

The night will end with one of our country’s favorite type of bacon — Kevin Bacon.  There will be a screening of the Kevin Bacon classic,  Apollo 13, on the big screen around 9pm to conclude the bacon-filled fest.

Breslow Partners Says Goodbye to Jesse: An Intern’s Exit Interview

This week, Breslow Partners bids adieu to one of our interns, Jesse Rosenstein. A fourth-year Drexel student, majoring in Public Relations and Marketing, Jesse will be studying abroad in Chile this upcoming semester. We asked Jesse some questions about his experience before he left:

What was your favorite part of being a Breslow Partners intern?

My favorite part was definitely the camaraderie between the team. PR is a team effort, so it was always great that my colleagues had my back when I needed it. Oh, and the potlucks were pretty awesome.

What is the biggest lesson you learned as an intern?

The biggest lesson I learned is to put yourself out there. There’s nothing better than being in communication with a reporter, and them having no idea you’re just an intern. Take chances and you’ll see big results.

Who was your favorite person to work with at Breslow Partners?

I gotta give it to my project partner, creative designer, and rapper Dillon Hoilman. He went above and beyond to produce creative materials for our clients, bring in a fresh vision, and was always open to hearing new ideas. He also helped me combat the estrogen levels in the office.

What is your dream career?

Eventually I want to own a Public Relations/Marketing/Advertising firm. If things go as planned, the firm will have a drive-thru In-N-Out burger around the back, with batting cages and a small waterslide.

Do you have any advice for other interns in the public relations industry?

Don’t put limitations on what you can achieve. You’re never “just an intern” at Breslow Partners. I wasn’t sure what I would get out of this experience, but now 7 months later I’ve built my portfolio into something I never could have imagined

What are you most excited to see and experience in Chile?

Hiking, Surfing, Photography, and Wine.

If you could describe yourself in one emoji, what would it be?

I like the smirk emoji. This guy’s up to no good.

We will miss Jesse terribly and wish him well in all his future endeavors!

Wanna be an intern? We’re always looking for passionate, creative people. If you are interested in participating in the internship program at Breslow Partners, please submit a cover letter and resumé to Jennifer Mansfield: careers  AT  b r e s l o w p a r t n e r s . c o m

Are Your Workouts Looking a Little Grey?

The_Color_Run_Las_Vegas_01eReady, set, RUN!  This Saturday, July 19th, Philadelphia is hosting its very own Color Run 5k as a stop on the 2014 Kaleidoscope Tour.  The Color Run has had people running everywhere since March of 2011 and doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon.

So what sets this specific 5k run apart from all the others out there? Well for starters it’s known to be the happiest 5k on the planet! There’s also the small detail that you start the race in all white and come out completely plastered in color.  At each kilometer marker a member of The Color Run team will be waiting to douse you in a specific color from head-to-toe.

The 5k is not timed so for all you guys out there who aren’t trained runners, no worries!  Just do your best to get to the finish line where an entire party awaits you with music, dancing and even more color throwing.

This weekend’s Color Run starts at 9 am at the Wells Fargo Center, XFINITY Live Parking Lot.  If you want to be a part of the hugest paint party on Earth you can register here either as a team of four or an individual. For directions, parking information and more click here.

So grab your friends, family, or anyone else who would enjoy an exciting day of color.  See you at the finish line!
